Nestlé Shelf Ready Tray Packer
Consumer goods manufacturers are increasingly packing their products into shelf ready packaging due to demands from the supermarket chains and a push for packaging cost reduction and added value.
Nestlé New Zealand approached rml for a solution to pack sachets of soup and sauce mixes within cartons into a shelf ready tray. An rml p275 shelf ready tray packer was the ideal solution with dual magazines to enable different grade boards to be applied top and bottom and and speeds of up to 100 cartons per minute. The rml p275 consists of a product in feed and collating station where cartons are received lying down long edge leading, then tipped onto their side using a continuous tipping mill. By way of its uniquely profiled flights, the tipping mill ensures reliable and positive orientation while at the same time, driving the collected stack forward. A separation cage then separates a collection of 12 trays and transfers this stack to the tray application station. Tray blanks are picked from each magazine into the blank transfer where hot glue is applied to the blank corners then transferred up to the waiting stack. At this position, tray formers extend and clamp the blanks around the top and bottom of the product. this ensures a reliable assembly method while maintaining a snug fit around the product.
